Industry Groups

Glad to see we were able to get some industry groups established. It would be nice if someone would post a little bit each week on here outside of the meeting in regards to major events that occurred or things to watch out for. Either way, it's still another step forward.

As for the oil debate, it may not hurt to start looking into an oil derivative, whether it be an index like the oil service holders (OIH) or more of a pure play. I can see oil hitting the high $40's for a little bit, but I see it staying more towards the $60 end of the range by summer time, depending on what happens politically in the next couple weeks.

I think we should look into selling off the MWA position and putting the rest of the money in WLT now that the housing market and economy are starting to turn around.

More thoughts later...

Keep on Keepin on

Few comments:

I agree with Doug's post on the MWA/WLT deal. When I proposed the investment I wanted to play WLT because Iof them deciding to spin off MWA for the cash so that they could focus more on their core businesses. We have seen little move in MWA since our "acquisition" at $13.90. WLT is up a bit, but I think it will still move as the housing environment improves (slowly).

EDA pulled back 3% Friday, and I, like Ross, was able to get in early. I think this company has room to run after the market becomes more familiar with American Apparel. I'd be more comfortable getting in here as opposed to the $11 handles we were seeing last week. ACH I believe has seen the bump it was going to see in the near future. I think its going to rest for a little bit in a range, but I'd like to hold them over the longer term (a year or so).

Wall Street Week was an amazing time, and I encourage all of you that will be Juniors or Seniors to apply for it. I think you could ask anyone that went and they will tell you that they not only learned a lot about the banking/finance industry but a lot about the New York way of life.

Those of you seriously interested in getting a good internship this summer, if you haven't already, start making contact with the firms you are interested in. Feel free to contact me in regards to contacts, information, or advice, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I also added a couple other site links and started a reading list on the right side column as well. If you have any other sites, books, or other things you want posted, let me know, and I'll drop them on.

Tues, 1-16 meeting

I can't make it on tuesday nights, but had a few items I want brought up.

1)MWA - Shortly after we bought WLT, it split off MWA to us. In the end, it would only cost one more commission to sell MWA now and use the proceeds to eventually buy some WLT. But MWA was $1 higher when it was split off - what about selling it if it gets back to $15?

2)ACH - Trading again and people were not scared enough by the halt to sell their shares - it's more than 15% higher than before the halt. Can we wait for it to come back down? Maybe 21, 21.50? By the way they're buying two other Asian companies and getting listed on a larger exchange.

3)EDA - Looks very intertesting but getting rich above $11.50. Please post memebers' thoughts on this one after the meeting for the few of us that won't be there.
